Born from aspirations to bring the timeless tales of William Shakespeare directly to rural and under-served communities, Montana Shakespeare in the Parks has been enriching the lives of people in Montana, and beyond, for 52 years. Ushering Shakespeare’s immortal stories of life, love, and tragedy into a modern era, MSIP is dedicated to preserving the cultural traditions of theatre and literature. Audiences will discover the magic of Shakespeare through a progressive and inclusive lens, where universal truths of mankind are united through stories that stretch beyond space and time.
Founded on the firm belief that Shakespeare belongs to everyone, the accomplished company of performers and staff work tirelessly to connect people, communities, and the arts, as they spread messages of unity and understanding. Experience Montana Shakespeare in the Parks under the welcoming blue skies of the West and relish in world-class performances that are free and friendly to all, and, for all time.
For 52 years Montana Shakespeare in the Parks has been building community traditions through free performances in your parks and in your schools. We couldn’t do this without you. In fact, 85% of our funds come from grants, sponsorships, and donations from supporters like you.
During the school year, MSIP’s education programs visit over 100 schools grades K-12 throughout Montana and Wyoming. Through a full day of enrichment, students experience abridgments and adaptations of Shakespeare’s classics, paired with actor talkbacks and classroom workshops.
Situated in the heart of Big Sky country, Bozeman, Montana, Montana Shakespeare in the Parks is an outreach program of Montana State University serving 65 rural and underserved communities over a 12 week tour across 5 states. We are always looking for world-class actors and volunteers to join our team.
